Wilton EMS Training Information & Services

One of the goals of WEMS is to provide the community with the opportunity to learn skills that can be used in their own homes in the event of a medical emergency. Another is to offer quality Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses for already existing providers in the area.

WEMS is an American Heart Association (AHA) Certified Training Site that oversees over 200 First-Aid & CPR instructors in the area. AHA offers First-Aid & CPR courses for all levels.

At WEMS we pride ourselves on our quality of care and put that same energy into the courses we teach. In addition to First-Aid & CPR for our community, we also provide course instruction for existing providers and offer courses to go toward recertification through the Continuing Medical Education Program.

Our Certified Instructor Coordinators (CIC) have over 100 years of combined emergency medicine experience. In addition, many have taken the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) course, providing them with specific knowledge in how to educate EMS providers.

Simulation Manikins

An exciting new addition to WEMS are our Simulation Manikins! These Simulation Manikins allow us to design training programs and gather measurable quantitative data on the efficiency of the care being provide. Some of the features include:

  • The ability to start IVs
  • Perform intubations
  • CPR – with feedback on effectiveness
  • Assess lung sounds
  • Feel a realistic pulse and hear a blood pressure
  • and more…

These manikins allow us to take more of the “human factor” out of training. We no longer walk onto a training scene and ask “what do we see” or “what was their blood pressure”, the manikin provides a very realistic setting for providers to practice their skills. View class schedule and enroll >
